After
the game
You have just finished a game. Maybe you have made a huge unexpected
victory, maybe it has been a terrible disappointment. In both case
you have to go on, with your eyes focused on the next game.
First of all you should make a quick evaluation of your team's
performance. I would like to say that you should check all stats
thoroughly, but this is something you will probably do only the
first times, since it is too much time consuming. As your experience
grows, you will learn to just take a glimpse of the most important
facts. I always look at the assists (especially for my AMC), goals
and tackling (especially for DMC). I also see who was the man of
the match. In case i am using a youngster for the first time, or
a player that had been out of the squad for sometime, i take a closer
look at his performance. This in general will not take more than
5-10 seconds.
In CM4 there is a new option: the ability to praise a player.
You can issue a media story giving your player the thumbs up. Be
careful however. You will not be given this option always, but only
after the player has played 6 official matches in a row.
Then, there is the issue of fines and complaints. You might need
to complain about a referee or about a red card (more
here). Then you might want to implement a fine to a player of
yours. The types of fines are as follows
- official warning
- 1 week fine
- 2 week fine
You can fine a player for his poor performance, for a red card,
unprofessional behaviour, or for no reason at all. Do not use poor
performance as a reason unless the player got a 5 or lower in the
previous match. i generally use with significant results, mostly
in cases of players who are new to the team or come from a long
period of bad form. I issue an official warning rather than a fine
and the player's performance will most likely improve in the next
match.
If the player got a red card, i fine him with the maximum allowed
penalty (2 weeks). However do not do this if the player is too aggressive,
or if he has a very low morale, or if he has been sent off with
2 yellow cards instead of a red for misbehaviour: He might get far
too upset and unhappy with his manager.
Use unprofessional behaviour if a player has been late for training
or in such cases of lack of discipline. Try not to be too harsh,
and don't apply it to top or old players, because they will often
not accept it and they might request to be transfer listed
Never use the no reason explnation, except if you really don't
care about the player. I only use it if i want to sell a player
and he refuses to move on. Keep in mind that it is likely that the
rest of the squad might react and become unhappy "because
their teammate has been treated unfairly".
